I bought and fitted a Brooks earlier this year and it must just happen to suit my rear because it has been comfortable from day one. No ''breaking in'' nor any faffing about with proofing creams etc .

I've done several long (70 miles +) rides on it and tbh I don't even notice it.

I noticed mine. At least all my other worries paled into insignificance. I was toying with the idea of chucking the saddle and sitting on the seatpost - at least my arse wouldn't be sliding all over the place. Thing is how does one find a saddle that suits without buying and trying ? These saddles are obviously great for some but not others.

Did 45 miles today on my B17 narrow for the first time. My arse is killing me and during the ride my arse was sliding all over the place. The worst pain is that bit between my arse and balls because the Brooks doesn't have that recess that my other saddle has. Also it weighs a freakin' tonne and it was bloody expensive. Also cost an extra fiver for that stuff I'm supposed to rub into it. Other than all that, it's great !

"....during the ride my arse was sliding all over the place...." that will stop in time.

".....The worst pain is that bit between my arse and balls because the Brooks doesn't have that recess that my other saddle has....." A bit of saddle adjustment might help that.

"..... Also it weighs a freakin' tonne and it was bloody expensive. Also cost an extra fiver for that stuff I'm supposed to rub into it....." all facts that I guess you knew about when you bought the saddle.

I wish you ride your saddle until it's comfortable and then come back and read your post ^_^

Is the saddle library still going?

I'm not sure why it seems to suit me. I do tend to sit a little further back on it than my previous saddle, and so take more weight on my sit bones.

In Salford the term for the bit of my anatomy between my arse and balls is....that bit between my arse and balls.

Forgot to mention, went for a piss after the ride and the pain was quite severe (inside the bit between my arse and balls). Emperors new clothes ?

I live up 't road in Kearsley. The saddle is made from mammoth skin frozen for millennia but I wont let it defeat me!

The good thing is I can ride it for 10 miles or 110 miles and it feels manageable. My previous San Marco Rolls was painful after 30+ miles.
