My Pinnacle Neon (no laughing at the back!) back brake started to squeak all of a sudden. I only bought the bike 5 weeks ago and there are scratches on the Rt hand rim.

Any ideas? I've adjusted the pads but am baffled.

Check for grit in the brake pads.Current wet weather seems to deposit road grit in the pads.

I give mine a visual check after every wet ride. Thorough clean of rims every weekend without fail.

Clean the rims and pads. I just use hot soapy water with a scrubbing pad for the rims and pads. Just make sure the pads are well aligned and no loose bolts, etc.
