Hello,

At £585 this bike does look a bargain and I'm considering getting one as a winter hacker.

Can any owners who've put guards on confirm if it will take full mudguards front and back please? If so can you recommend any particular set - it's ages since I last fitted mudguards to a bike and I remember them being very flappy and annoying so if I do get a Boardman I'll be keen to get something that fits well but can be taken off with the minimum of fuss when required.

Also - any thoughts on the bottom bracket? I've heard a horror story about a press fit bottom bracket going wrong on one of these models; not sure if it was just a bad luck thing, or something more widespread affecting this model in particular. Cheers, Steve.

Hi,

Yes it will take mudguards, I've put sks on mine, fit well if a little shorter than planned on the back wheel.
My bottom bracket went, had it re fitted twice, the mechanic who was very helpful said it needs fitting with care, any attempt to over tighten makes it creek, not a fault as such but very annoying, if the halfords are familiar with this it will be fine.

Would that be these then? - http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/...ds&gclid=COifs_K_1ccCFWK6tAodleoDCA&gclsrc=ds

No issues with wheel rub or rattling?
Thanks for your help

Had no issues with the bottom bracket in the 900 miles covered so far. Mines out in all weathers and aside from a chain mickle and wipe down from time to time gets no special treatment. Given the rain lately I'm considering mudguards so be interested to see what others use..
