Any owners on here that would recommend ?
I'm looking for a bike that can do longish hauls on a weekend without falling behind road bikes too much while not collapsing off road VERY occasionally.
Cheers guys.

I was considering one of these, I have looked at them in Halfords decent spec for the price and reduced at the moment with an extra 10% off on top of the reduction.

The only thing that stopped me was I got a good second hand Cannondale CAADX disc at a good price.

The only thing I don't like on the Boardman is the extra levers, but you may like them. I have run cross bikes before with road tyres and kept up very well with road bikes, you may struggle to keep up with cross tyres on, a spare pair of wheels shod with road tyres is the easy solution.

Yeah I've been considering the Cannondale as well , just hoping Halfords could source it for me.
What do you think of the Cannondale Afnug ?

Are you looking for a commuter on bike to work?

I like SRAM gearing so would choose the boardman over a shimano bike. The extra levers are a bonus especially in traffic. Not difficult to remove though and would free up valuable space for commuter goodies like lights!

Had mine about a year. Aside from a tyre change and swapping the BB5 calipers to BB7 it's as bought. I like it, and no problems thus far in 650 miles. Bargain with 10% off plus another 10% BC discount.

I am a big fan of Cannondale aluminium frames, so I jumped at the chance for this one, its the Tiagra equipped model, I intend to put some 105 levers on as I like the neat handlebar solution,

I have only been for one off road ride and to be fair the Tiagra performed faultlessly, it rode fine I got a PB on 1 segment. it has a longer headtube & is a bit more relaxed than my last cross bike (Kinesis P6) but not much different, not keen on the brakes (Promax I think) I had Avid BB7 on the Kinesis, just got a 140mm rotor for my spare rear wheel with road tyres on so will try it on the road when I get chance, the paint finish is better than the Kinesis, it takes guards & a rack if that's required.

All I need to find now is somebody who is upgrading to 11 speed & willing to sell me their redundant Shimano 5700 brifters.

Its got a proper 46/36 Cross Chainset, I think the Boardman has 50/34

I think the Boardman will be just as good, but I got it at half the price,

I love my board an team cx
I've changed the tyres to smoother 32s and put mudguards on, I've done a few sportives on it and it's comfy without losing too much speed
Strong enough for off road tracks
Love the extra brake levers I can stay sat up for the ride

I own a giant anyroad 2 cx bike and I manage to keep up with road bikes with the tyres it came with. It's really comfy and an added bonus being able to sit upright. The extra leavers are excellent for built up areas also when your not on the drops

P's I bought it mainly for the commute but also do rides over 50 miles and it works well. Having the added bonus of being able to take it off road helps also. Don't get me wrong love a road bike also but a cx is like a Swiss army knife of bikes

I have one for sale in medium size, It is a very solid bike feels indestructible when riding but sadly I am not using it since I bought my Specialized and I have a Trek Damone for the summer.
Only downside was the BB5 brakes which take a bit of bedding in - I upgraded to BB7 which seem a lot less fussy.

Except you're not stuck with halfords. There are plenty of local bike shops which take the halfords voucher. You might find a used bike cheaper too of course as long as you have the readies. C2w savings aren't always all that, better if a higher rate tax payer but still depends on the scheme rules
