What a coincidence, I live in Hull too, have just bought a Boardman CX and am after some mudguards and unsure which to get. Thanks for creating the thread and welcome to the forum

What width tyres are you running now, @david k ?

Madness!!!

Are you after road tyres (slicks), all-weather commuters or slimmer knobblies for off-road?

Vitoria ranaduer 32s, really like them

I'm interested in putting a set of mudguards on my CX Team too, but I still have the rapid robs on it at the moment. Can you recommend a good replacement tyre that will allow a set of chromoplastics? I asked my local bike shop for a quote and they said £120 for continental tyres and SKS guards. Thought I could do it myself for a good bit cheaper...

Thanks in advance.

Pat

As above, I looked around and these really suit what I use the bike for, mainly road riding

Slimmer knobblies would be preferred if I can get a set of guards to fit. Willing to take anyone's lead on this one though - do I need new tyres right enough? Also, my CX Team is a 2015 and there are now bolts about 5" up from the bottom of the fork... I presume these are a new design to accommodate mudguard stays?
I swapped out the Rapid Robs for Marathon Deluxe as my riding will be mainly on-road commuting. It immediately rolls better with the MDs on and they offer great puncture protection without the weight of the even tougher Marathon Deluxe (I ran over a pin badge last week which stuck in the tyre but didn't get through). I can't advise on slimmer knobblies I'm afraid. I assume if you're wanting to stick with knobblies you're planning to do most of your riding off-road? If so maybe something like these?

Which branch did you get your bike from? I got mine from Beverley and there are no braze-on mounts on my fork - I must have been flogged old stock

Look good value. Did you choose 32mm specifically to accommodate the guards? I'm trying to work out (like @path29 ) if I will be able to get guards around my 35mm tyres.

32 seemed right, some complaints have been that theynarenactually thinner than that? I just know I like them, smooth, run well, comfy, I like being comfy lol, I love the reflective walls and good value
