Hi,
New to all this forum thing, so please go gentle! This question may have been asked before but I have just taken the plunge and spent (for me) a lot of money on a Boardman CX comp. I read up on it beforehand and was led to believe that mudguards could be fitted both front and rear. When I ordered from Halfords they said that a front one could not be fitted due to the disc brakes.

Has anyone fitted mudguards to this model and if so which ones?
Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

I've just bought this, and it was fitted with full mudguards, not sure which ones though.

Hope this helps.

I've got. Set of Wilcos £5 mudguards on mine and they fit a treat. They are quite rugged and easily take the knocks and bangs that other more expensive (and brittle) ones wouldn't survive. (I have disc brakes and front suspension). These were by far the cheapest ones I found and the quality has stood the test of time....highly recommended!

I'm comparing these with the £30 SKS chromoplastics I had on my road bike. They don't provide quite as much protection, but I'm certainly satisfied ....

Mine are sks on my board an team cx and work well with the new tyres. If your keeping the rapid robs then you may need a wider mud guard
Wilkes sounds good though for five pound cheap and if they break your not out of pocket much

I'm interested in putting a set of mudguards on my CX Team too, but I still have the rapid robs on it at the moment. Can you recommend a good replacement tyre that will allow a set of chromoplastics? I asked my local bike shop for a quote and they said £120 for continental tyres and SKS guards. Thought I could do it myself for a good bit cheaper...

Thanks in advance.

What a coincidence, I live in Hull too, have just bought a Boardman CX and am after some mudguards and unsure which to get. Thanks for creating the thread and welcome to the forum

What width tyres are you running now, @david k ?

Madness!!!

Are you after road tyres (slicks), all-weather commuters or slimmer knobblies for off-road?

My local bike shop said the chrome plastics won't fit with the rapid rob tyres - not enough space around the top of the inside of the fork they said, hence why I'm looking for new tyres. Slimmer knobblies would be preferred if I can get a set of guards to fit. Willing to take anyone's lead on this one though - do I need new tyres right enough? Also, my CX Team is a 2015 and there are now bolts about 5" up from the bottom of the fork... I presume these are a new design to accommodate mudguard stays?

Thanks
