Er no, just trying to find out if it is the right size for me. The lbs is starting Beginners cycle maintenance courses. How to change a tyre, how to adjust the gears, etc. So I might do that first. ;)

Sounds like a plan. The Eagle might be a willing test "subject" for your experimentation ;)

Actually you don't. I still have not got the New Cat pics. If I approach her with a camera, she achieves acceleration in the region of nought to sixty in 0.2 secs, with the result that the photo is fuzzy and out of focus.

I dare say I will not be achieving that kind of acceleration. ;)

Having successfully posted more in Know How and Beginners this evening than I have in the past two years, I think it is time I said good night.

The advice offered will be very useful, thank you.

A very rough indication for reach is to place your elbow against the tip of the saddle, your wrist should meet the bars.If however you are built like a primate(i'm 5'6'' 29'' leg with the arm reach of a orangutan) all measurements go out the window!

On both bikes if I put my elbow against the tip of the saddle, my fingertips just reach the bars.

Well when you first said it Boxob , I thought that sounded a bit short! But you seemed confident about it.

Then when I tested it out, crikey thought I, have I got very short arms?
and how is it that both bikes are too big?

I think I will have to get properly measured. Then find out if the bikes are the right size.
