'Goes in'? Does that mean to be serviced at the LBS? How much does that cost? My bikes are constantly monitored and attended to by myself. I don't have 'service intervals'. .

Went to a new LBS (new to me anyway) with one broken spoke on my front wheel (80% of my commute at the moment is on the Bristol to Bath cycle-path/Dramway or ath te moment flooded back streets) to be told that my wheel most likly was trashed, and would need replacing. They were willing to sell me a cheap set for £70. They replaced the spoke but didn't service the hub like I asked them. My Bike from new has done 3700 miles and is ok (ish) two replacements of Brake blocks and the cables are original the chain needs replacing as despite being mickled every week it is starting to ghost shift when in top ring front middle gear rear.

It sounds like he was just naming the consumable parts to give you a worst case scenario.

I wouldn't be able to afford cycling if I thought my bikes needed serviced after 700 miles! My most used bike has done over 7000 miles with only a basic service and change of chain.
