Yeah, Im done with buying expensive bikes... just looking at all the parts for this one is looking depressing

Shame but all the shops nearby close well before my shifts do, why I became a chef, I dont know somtimes

Thats another fine idea out the window then??? Your going to have to look at them bolts i think what were suggested on post #2..... Im not giving up on the shop idea though! Have a scoot around within 1/4 mile from work if there is anywhere suitable? When i had a bike jacked i started locking it up outside cop-shop and walked the last half mile into work.. This might not be available in your circumstance though.

Hi Bricksmasher,

I'm a chef too. Does your hotel have a service corridor, plant room, staff room, changing room, cleaning cupboard, secure binsheds, beer cellar, unused room, beer garden etc. Any of these would maybe do. Speak to the hotel GM or your head chef and ask for some help, they may have a solution to the problem. Failing that get yourself a commuting hack with decent slick tyres and do the wax trick etc.

As to working long shitty unsociable hours in a hot sweaty kitchen, if you don't REALLY enjoy cooking then get out and go and do something else. It is too hard a job to do if you don't love it.

Cheers guys, I have asked the hotel, before I bought my first expensive bike, there is nowhere from them to store it, apart from the terrace, they wont let me keep it there, as its a hotel that employs alot of people and everyone wants to put their bike there.

There is a bike shop nearby, 2-3mins away, been there a few times, might ask for a favour!

I will def look into pitlocks, would they help protect the entire groupset though? I know they;re pricey but tust me I am more than willing to pay!

Beastie, nice to hear from a fellow chef  I asked after my first bike got nicked, their advice, get a shoot bike.... thanks lol

I love cooking though mate, but wouldnt miss finishing 70-80hrs a week, late finished and early mornings for sure ;) just leaves no time for any hobbies and I love sports. after being promoted to Juniour sous in a well respected kitchen in cambridge sometimes I find it hard to give it all up

well,

I got a little impatient, and listened to your advice

picking up my new bike tomorrow, but dont worry, I am NOT taking it, anywhere near work
Only thing is it apparently needs a new front Mech, which I bought for £20, and he took that off the price which was hisdecision so I cant moan, just have 3 options now:

1. Keep new bike as is
2. Get groupset transeffered onto my Giant frame (my mate reckons its a great frame, i dont know lol)
3. Parent suggested, keeping new bike as is, and then they'd buy me another groupset to put on my old frame, therefore having a spare bike should I ever need one!

what do you think of the bike above guys out of interest, seems a good deal to me, but thats my non-expert opinion
