I'm relatively new to this cycling lark but have already been officially classed by my (mainly non-bike) friends as a 'Bike Geek'
This has come about after a recent girlie pub lunch....An all-male group of riders passed the pub garden that we were sitting in & I automatically commented on the bikes (A Trek Madone no less!) only to be met with grim faces announcing that ' Its a very sad day when you start raving about the bikes instead of the men riding them!!'
Also, I was caught in my kitchen blow-drying my bike after spending hours washing it......is that wrong??
Has anyone else caught this Geek thing????

Now I know I'm a clean bike obsessive but that is just nuts.

Congratulations Pigo - I think that's a first for ian

I'm sure none of us have spent more time looking at good looking bikes than good looking riders on them - honest

And some of us have never spent any time at all looking good on bikes, however much we blow dry them.

I got the mickey taken for commenting on a passing TCR while my colleagues ribbed me for not noticing that the rider was a very attractive female. Not everyones interests are (always) driven by what is in their pants.

Hehe. You can't wait to try out the hair dryer can you Ian?

Also very new to this cyclIng malarkey and my OH ( non-cycling person ) thinks it's hilarious as I bike-spot while we are out.
I've only been caught in the rain a couple of times but I've gently dried her off, yes, HER, before putting her away in the shed.
I love my bike.
*Stands up* My name is Debbie and I'm a bike geek.

OMG! You keep your bike in the shed? Do you WANT it stolen? It should be indoors in the warm and dry.

After discovering my garage had a 'unfixable' leak last year, and one of my bikes standing in a puddle of water I had wall mounts fitted,
I was aslo concerned about the 'damp air' so all our bikes get blankets over them in winter - The car gets to sit on the drive all weathers, there's no room in the garage for her

I think you probably are a little obsessed at the moment... but do not worry, a woman who lets bikes into the kitchen is never going to be short of friends :bravo:
