Especially as I have private health insurance. Does anyone have any experience of bupa's cycling focused musculoskeletal service? Although I have to pay for that

I spoke to bupa today, sounds just the ticket. 45 minute full physio assessment and then around a hour fitting on own bike. Physio lady is a keen cyclist. My Insurance will cover the physio assessment, have to pay for the bike fit which is £113. Just need to get my bike from friend in flood hit area!!

Cheers Gaz. I had looked at that one, very costly however...I do quite like the idea of a lady physio and given I may require ongoing physio, I need a physio who practices as a physio IYSWIM and which is covered by BUPA! The fact that it includes a physio assessment separate from the bike will suit too. That one seems very performance oriented, which isn't really my objective

I've not organised anything yet as I don't have the bike and also need to sort around work

I have adjusted everything on my bike over time, possibly 30 or 40 times over for each thing.
Saddle, stem, seatpost height, bar angle, everything. And it's now just perfect.
The reason I mention it, is because I am absolutely riddled with arthritis all my life, and if I can get comfortable on a bike, anyone can.
No need for medical intervention atall and I didn't have to pay someone £300 or £400 plus.
If you have a serious ongoing knee problem, no amount of physio or bike fits will cure it. I think it's probably more about striking a balance, not spending a fortune on a bike fit by a medically trained person.
You said yourself that the frame wasn't made for you, so I just think it's good money after bad.
It seems to me aswell that the service you are seeking is something akin to pro cycling. But I fear that even something like that wouldn't help you to the degree that you may expect. What with ongoing knee problems.

Thanks

As I said I lack the confidence and competence as well as patience and time to get the set up correct. Hence needing the help. And if I am going to get this help, I would prefer it to be someone who understands the issue with my knee and elbow. It won't be £300-400. It'll be around £100

No the frame of course wasn't made for me. Frames never are. However, the components are sized based on measurements for a bike built previously.

I want help with getting seat height, position, cleats etc to
Minimise knee discomfort. The damage will never go away but I can avoid exacerbating the inflammation that can affect it.

Good luck. I hope you can find the best position possible. It's a pig cycling in pain!
