Can't you get around this by using loop recording?

Loop recording has no effect on increasing battery life.

It only affects the size of SD card you are likely to need.

My set up.

It saves hard metal projections if I were to go head first over the bar and in my opinion, makes the camera less obvious.
If I was to regularly switch bikes, I'd try to change the clamp with the allen head bolts to a cam lock or possibly butterfly fasteners.
The one downside I found to this set up is the USB charging port is less visible. I know where it is, but getting the connector the right way round was a bit fiddly. That was solved by putting a piece of brightly coloured tape on the "up" side of the charging connector.

Thanks. Mine will also go under the bars. As I use more than one bike I'll be looking at a quick switch set up. I "think" I can fix it so that I can use the quarter turn lock on the underside of the latest Garmin mounts.
Charging port is now stated to be USB-C so no problems about right way up.
All will be revealed in a couple of days when it arrives.

Thanks. I've taken the plunge and ordered one.
Next is to work out a quick way of moving from bike to bike. I suspect a bodge may be involved.

Good shout, I have both the 12 Sport and the 6, and I find them to be really good, the 12 seems to last at least 6 hours in my experience.

Like you I was concerned about how to mount the light, but I've kind of solved this for my use case more generally, I have a Garmin out front mount which has the Varia under mount (same 1/4 turn mechanism). I've got several front lights I can swap in or out this way - mostly Lezyne though, but in principle it can work with any light which can use a go-pro fitting.

I ordered a go-pro mount for the fly-12 which I then use a Garmin Varia mount to connect to the underside of the computer mount. I can get any of my lights off the bike in a couple of seconds and remount them just as quickly. In addition the mount is really solid - and doesn't shake, nor have I had a light come off during a spill. I used the lanyard to fix the camera to the mount a bit more securely as at the time I didn't trust the Cycliq mount.

I cross posted with you I think - downside of nipping to the garage to get photos. The new one is indeed USB C I can confirm and looks as though you have the same plan I had concerning mounting, which will work. The only annoyance I had is that I ordered a Go-pro mount separately from the original order and Cycliq postage is quite high if you're just ordering an adapter.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm planning. Postage is indeed high -£10 even if you buy a system. Think I can construct a mount from my spares box, if not they are freely available on eBay for only a few £££ post free.

Doesn't everything have to be USB-C nowadays?

Have a 5 year old Fly12CE here. It still does over 6 hours on a charge with no light on. I did a ride a few weeks ago that was 7 hours elapsed (with an hour cafe stop in the middle where it was turned off) and it was still going at the end, though the little flashing LED was red showing battery was low. I think this indicates <10%.

I run it at 1080p/30. With light on full I guess about 3-4 hours and at 1080p/60 with the light on full it's only about 2 hours I think.

Yeah pretty much everything has USB-C - it's great, I've been wanting this for years, plus it just makes sense!

I've just checked my order and my packaging, the universal go-pro part of the mount is in the box, so you won't need to order that separately - I think I ordered a spare just in case as I wasn't sure one did come in the pack. The Varia mount part I had a spare kicking around anyway as I use them on all my lights - with the new Garmin out front mounts they just clip on no questions - but they aren't expensive as you said.

One advantage to doing it this way is it keeps my handlebars clean and free of obstructions, I really dislike having mounts that get in the way of moving my hands around.

To be honest, I only run the Cycliq in a flash mode (I use organic flash) as the main beam output (nominally 400 lumen) doesn't put much usable light on the road. Both my big Lezyne light and the Fenix BC30 put out much more usable light at half that as the optics spread it much better on the road. Pretty sure if I was doing a night ride I'd opt for a different light.

Think the too light/camera must have given Cyliq the jitters as the fly 12 sport is now available £245+ 10 shipping in UK.

I have the original fly 12 - and just use the light as daylight flasher - don't really cycle at night - but like yourself would buy something more substantial if I did ?

Just out of interest do you camera users use them only as evidence gathering or do you ever use any of the footage/stills for general recreational photography/ upload and share type use
