1. Reduce the brake reach with plastic spacers.
2. Reposition the brake levers on the bars, up and down, and in rotation (requires re-taping).
3. Rotate the bars in the stem
4. Flip the stem for a higher bar position.
5. replace stem with more rise/shorter length.

You wouldnt get spacers in a bag anyway , they would be fitted to the bike already .
Oh? So the brakes will already have them on meaning I can't make the gap any smaller??

The older I get, the faster I used to be ...
Are you braking from the drops? I must do 99% of braking on the hoods. See drop bar positions. If the reach is still a problem fit the shims - if not fitted already, and/or angle the bars back so the rear of the hoods are more or less horizontal, or sloping towards you a little.

Yea I brake from the hoods too, I've got long fingers so shouldn't be a problem for me but hey......
I've just got back from a ride, not far just took my Mom out and rode to Speed Cycles. Had some adjustments and is much better. Think the shims will be all that's left and it will be spot on :bicycle:

As long as I breathe, I attack.
If your stem is too long it might also make it harder to brake ? i brake mainly from the hoods but can use the drops with no problem.
From the piccie of your hoods looks like their turned up to much imho, which would make them a closer but harder to brake with ?
The hoods should really give a neutrel wrist position, but if your comfy then ok

Agree, that used to be a "rule of thumb" to set the handle bars etc. and one handed down from my Dad. However, my position is now that + 10 cm's, but a good starting point.
Yup , everyone is different , im a short arse so + 10 cm would be way to far in proportion to the rest of me , its like drop ,i say flexibilty aside if your arms are longer you can have more drop to give the same body angle as someone a lot shorter with less drop( im 5 foot 7 " on a good day ! with 5 cm of drop atm ), although i do tend to ride mostly like piccie 3

Basically with the move to sti saddle to bar drop has increased but most people ride on the hoods giving about the same body angle that they used to get on the old drops pre sti .

Well I did tilt the bars up like that do that I had a better reach on the bars up the guy in the shop just said I could start getting pain in my wrists, will have to see how I get on I guess.
Have ordered the shims so maybe once I've got those on I may be able to straighten them out again
