AFAIK the new tdf comes with claris ,sound to me like you either need to flip the stem, buy a shorter stem or a more angled stem.First of all get you saddle height and set back sorted and then look at your reach and drop to the bars.If I drop my bar height any more I immediately feel to stretched out .
Thanks. My seat is correct, I've checked that so all the adjustment needs to come from the front.
So flipping the stem makes the bars slightly higher does it? Is it easy enough to do?

for reach here is a rough guide, mine is that + 2 finger widths , drop is a persoanl thing dependant on height, back flexibilty , arm length , core strength etc etc , if its feels to low it probably is but i found as i rode more my position has got lower but to low and i feel like i am falling forward.

Agree, that used to be a "rule of thumb" to set the handle bars etc. and one handed down from my Dad. However, my position is now that + 10 cm's, but a good starting point.

If above suggestions don't resolve the issues you're havin, another option worth considering is a pair of top mount levers (AKA ancillary or frog leg levers)

Just measured, mine is currently that pic plus 3 finger widths so I would say too far.

Wahoo, you lot are great......I've turned the stem over and tilted the bars a bit and that feels great now, will take it out over the weekend to test properly.
Just need to sort out the spacers and I will be well away :notworthy:

Did the shop fit it up for you? as in you went in tried it and they made adjustments, if not they should have done in my opinion.

I have a Carrera Zelos and found that the stem was too long, so I swapped the original 100 mm one for a 90 mm stem,
10 mm might not seem much, but, this was the difference between lower back pain, and no lower back pain.
The only thing to watch for is if the height of the spacers need to be increased in order for the headset to tighten correctly.
