Thanks Petaud, think the cost here was the clincher and the bike ownership is not in doubt. Only noticeable difference in the two for me are the shimano system and the campagnolo. As this is my first Road bike as such I think it is a good choice and very similar to my fixie with drop bars, just more gears and lighter! Just going to order some entry level SPD pedals tonight and SPD shimano shoes, cant wait now to shift a couple of stone over the next 8 weeks

Just wanted to update.

I am absolutely loving the spesh. Far superior than the fixie I had. The Shimano Sora system is easy to handle. Just need to get it serviced as such beacuse when on the low or high cog it makes a tiny rattle the chain rubbing on the "leading bar", not sure what it is called. It is not a continual grating just occasionally, only needs a little push on the gears to make it tottaly silen on the bottom but on the top one I push it more but it doesn't click and settle if you know what I mean.

I absolutely fly along on this but weather has been poor, a lot of wind chill is killing me at the minute and I have lost the fingerless gloves!! As it is a compact far better, my fixie with drop bars meant I was really stretched out over the bike and near on flat to the frame and that killed my lower back no matter how many times I rode.

The gears I have to get used to, although only 18, the 18th is difficult to get a good pace and rhythm going against the wind. Hopefully it will warm up soon and less layers. Just waiting on pedals and shoes now as the caged standard pedals are irritatiing and I get no purchase on them.

Overall I am well happy, glad I made the jump first of all from my fixie and secondly going for the spesh.

Thanks all.

Aha, thanks for that, I thought the wire needs pulling through as such a little bit, forgot about the barrel adjuster, as I will now call it. So used to being on a fixie, taht I forgot about that little bit. Thanks, I appreciate it
