Are bib shorts or 3/4 or tights worth there money? What advantages do they give? Ive got cycling jerseys one short sleeve and one long sleeved. Ive got padded pants and then Ive got padded shorts and tights which I wear over the top of the pants. Its my birthday coming up and people are asking what I would like and was thinking of getting a set of bibs but would like to know what benfits they give and what are the better range out there? Thank you

More comfortable as there is no tight waistband keeping them up and a better fit (assuming you get the ride size!) which keeps the pad just right where it should be. Also stops a clothing gap developing at the base of your back which is handy when it is cooler. One of those things (like a track pump) that when you start you think you can do without but once you get one you'll likely not want to go back to how it was before.

For the best then the likes of Assos, Castelli, Etxeondo and Rapha sit at the top but they are expensive. Then a bit cheaper the likes of Gore and Santini etc are good. For on a budget i'd look to Decathlon and alot of people swear by dhb too - generally good quality gear but their current shorts IME are not as good as in the past.

I just wore a new set of bibs I bought back in the winter. They are low cut front. They work great when nature calls (at least when I have to pee). I will definitely be looking for this feature on all future purchases.

I hate them, hate them hate them, hate them hate them, hate them. They're the most stupid awkward pain in the arse item ever ever ever invented for cyclists. I wore mine the other day, needed to go for no.2s hat to take off my jersey, amd pull the straps down. Feckin stupid things.
