Bib tights £50ish?

Hi all,

As per title, looking for some tights for around £50. These seem to be the popular choice but was wondering if anyone has anything else I should consider? I was thinking Roubaix for thermal properties.

You've hit the nail - DHB are well recommended.

You will need different sorts though if riding all year. Roubaix type work until it gets rather cold, then you need some with windproofing on the thighs especially in sub zero.

I wear roubaix all year as they work. As it drops towards zero in mornings then the wind proof ones need to be out as my thighs hate the cold. These work in silly temps as well. It's the thighs that suffer most in real cold.

What would you buy? To be fair, I don't really feel the cold as much as some but these seem to get good reviews and are probably the one of the best value pairs for the money.

I use Decathlon's own BTwin 5 tights most of the year for commutes. Then I have either an old pair of 'thermal' Decathlon tights, or the Aldi winter tights for £29.99. I have some more expensive ones that I don't use for commutes due to wear and tear.

Have you ridden in minus 15 ? I have !! Lets say the Decathlon/Aldi ones come out in near zero. I still ride quite fast (20 MPH) , so wind chill is high. I don't feel cold, but keeping the legs warm is key in winter.

Not ridden in -15. Not sure that I would like to either! On a plus, I can't ride as fast as you so that should help a bit!

Thought about getting some of the Aldi ones in the winter sale but didn't due to reviews of poor padding.

To be honest, I don't really want a pair that I only will be able to wear when the temps near zero. I'd rather spend my money for something comfy for now's temperature and down to that point. Not really sure I'll be out cycling on frozen roads to be honest!

Decent enough for the money as I understand. Thing is, these are still cheap for bib tights just that they offer good value.

Decathlon £50 are good.

Planet X clubman get good reviews from peeps on here, as do DHB.

You shouldn't go wrong with any.

You could also just buy some longs to go over them when it's cold.

Good call.
I have some old DHB Roubaix bib longs and some summer bib 3/4's and previously some regular bib shorts. They've all been good value, comfortable and long lasting. You can't go far wrong IMO.

More than £50 but I absolutely adore these for the colder weather and as already stated

Could you wear the zero's in this temp? @ about 13°c or would they get you to hot?

Thinking about it, having windproof would be worth it for me living within a mile of the cost. It does blow a bit here!!

If it's really cold, I just wear a pair of the OH's tights (with the crotch cut out!) underneath my bib- tights. Great for keeping the legs warm.

If it's really really cold. I've a pair of thermal stocking like things I confiscated from her a couple of winter's ago.
