It's easy to find a good lubricant for something as basic as a cycle chain, the hard bit is getting it where it's needed, keeping it there and stopping it collecting crud. Just look at how efficient enclosed chain cases with oil baths are. I use any oil (like 3 in1) then mix it 60/40 with cellulose thinners. The thinners gets the oil into the rollers then evaporates off, so it needs to be applied hours before riding, the chain plates stay oil free and therefore clean. It's cheap and works for me.
