Best hybrid up to £300

I've had a couple of the Halfords subways , had years of use out them , mainly Canal paths and some roads.
Won't beat any records but they get you there.
Other than a bit of oil and a set of brake blocks the current one has done me for almost ten years without repairs.

The only issues I know about it are:

a) It has to be bought from halfords/cycle republic which don't have the best reputation. I bought it from Cycle Republic but I would take it to my local bike shop if it needed a repair...

b) From my own experience and based on online reviews there's a common problem of the chain coming off the front sprocket (lower side) and jamming between the sprocket and frame

c) it comes with a horrible seat.

Saddle on my one seems ok. But then again I e never had a problem with any saddle in any bike, so maybe it's just me.
