We did Centre Parcs a few years ago when the kids were that age, but we went to a couple of the places in Holland. The Parcs were a lot cheaper, but the ferry costs ended up bringing it back to same area. Eating out on site was ok the first time, one child 1/2 price, the second free, unfortunately they both got older so it went to 3 adult meals + 1 child the second time we went.

I haven't checked but wonder whether it's half term here but not in the other country's being compared.

Possibly, though the couple of Dutch ones we went too must have been holiday season for everybody - they were packed, but the savings including travel weren't as dramatic as DM claims.
Also went to a non Center Parcs place at the end of UK school holidays when foreign part schools were back and almost had the place to ourselves. We were sat outside a cafe on that one when what looked like a whole class of unaccompanied youths cycled past heading in the direction of the local swimming pool. Not something you'd ever see in the UK.

It's an interesting thought. I wonder if booking into a European holiday camp outside of their peak time but in ours is a clever move. Or would my kids be bored due to lack of friend making opportunities.

Under pressure from the kids, I put my prejudices aside 4 years ago to go to Butlins, since then we have been back every year. Personally I don't like it, but the kids absolutely love it, so it makes it a great holiday. We use the pool and beach as much as possible and stay away the from the late night entertainment. My top tip is to book the premium food package. It is actually edible and allows you to spend your holiday enjoying yourself rather than cooking.

We have also been to Centre Parc's twice and a variety of static caravans, plus various places in Europe.

The kids have now had enough of going to Butlin's as it was getting a bit samey, so this year we are off to northern France in summer and Gran Canaria at Easter.

I've had mixed experiences with haven, last time at pwhelli had me swearing never to return :-( tbh I think we were just unlucky. I'd recommend avoiding the budget vans as they are cold and damp, but the premium models are quite nice.
We stayed at a parkdean site in wemyss bay which was a fraction of the price, the pool was small but we had it to ourselves one day and the staff were friendly.
I have friends who go to ribby hall village and rave about it.

They really enjoyed it. We had a caravan then but there must be somewhere suitable to stay for you.
