I'd like to say 'The Fall' but they've been more than one band over the years. I'm also extremely tempted to say 'Wire' - despite their art school wan pretensions. Best ever band is just too difficult for me.

I used to like U2, many moons ago. Can't stand them now. REM similarly but with much less of the current dislike. I can listen to the Manics or The Kinks, to name but 2 of the bands mentioned, and can like some but definitely not all. Same is true of just about every band mentioned so far on this thread. With a few exceptions - if you like Coldplay, look away now!

I guess, for me, The Fall does come closest - because whatever iteration they've been going through I've tended to find something in it
