- ...I don't have much idea - really.
I have, most of my life, worn a helmet. Twice I have trashed them - here's a link to what happened the last time I snapped a helmet.(Giro Atmos - if it is of interest).
I wonder whether the opinions of people who object to wearing helmets might change if either they themselves, or one of their nearest and dearest was badly injured due to bashing their head of the pavement?

I actually know someone who had an accident while running with a pair of scissors, now he has one glass eye. Only a full face visored helmet would have helped him.

I think this argument can be applied to a far more serious, and pressing, issue, running with scissors. The fact that people still keep scissors at home, some of them not even under lock and key, is a great worry. Even a well trained adult finds the urge to grab them and run, when presented with a pair of scissors, almost irresistable, let alone the children. Though public awareness of the dangers of running with scissors appears to be at an all time high, the calls for a scissor ban fall on deaf ears. Obviously some of those are only deaf due to scissor related incidents so some tact should be exercised here.

Talk about helmets is a diversion as they're particularly ineffective in scissor/speed events.
If it's scissors it's got to be Shimano of course, not that Campagnolo rubbish ...

Nothing like a bit of emotional blackmail from a holier-than-thou evangelist.I wonder whether the opinions of people who object to wearing helmets might change if either they themselves, or one of their nearest and dearest was badly injured due to bashing their head of the pavement?

Now I am back on two wheels I am wearing a helmet again but have noticed an issue I had forgotten about, above 30mph I am getting helmet lift due to the airflow, I must change my lid and see if it helps.
Must be your lid, or the angle you sit on the bike . I have no issue with helmet lift at 35+
In all the helmet debates and in all the information available in the public domain I've never seen a robust and objective analysis that shows how a polystyrene helmet constructed to one of the current standards can provide a degree of protection that's relevant in a cycling accident.
