I buy tools as required and buy good quality. Often park tools, they are very well designed for the job and last.

When temporarily without my park I got one of these.

It is perfectly good.

Just grease threads as you put it in and take it slowly.

I have no idea who x tools are but I find their tools to be good, never had a problem. I have several.

The tapers are all the same but some cranks can have a different threaded bit the tool fits into.

My local bike repair guy had never seen an extractor before I gave him one. A hammer and drift seem to work just as well .

He's actually very good and operates from a wooden shack at the roadside. He has an incredible knowledge of hacks and work arounds. I'll be passing by his place later so will post a pic.
