Got to work no problem this morning - 55 minutes door to door.

A colleague who set off an hour later (from 10 miles nearer) took nearly 4 hours to do the journey - this was apparently due to "other people".

The usual suspects "couldn't get in" or were "working from home" again

Then due to the inclement weather got sent home at 4pm and did the return journey in record time, thanks to some of the quietest roads I've seen since the Fuel Price Protests of 2000(?). This fortunately coincided with clear blue skies and sunshine for nearly all the journey home.

Walking the dog I got caught in a near white out blizzard though which lasted exactly as long as it took to cover the distance from the farthest point of the walk to our gate...

How much does it cost to Oldham?
Just had an unpleasant drive up from London. -5C from Beaconsfield and snowy. Big concentration needed.

Currently minus 5C with 20mph winds, which might explain this photo of how far outside our house our cat has been today.

Mrs Celine took my Ka (which underneath is a fiat 500) to work yesterday because she couldn't get the big car up the hill.
It took me 15 minutes to get the big car out the drive. 1 minute trying followed by 14 minutes trying to work out how to switch off the traction control.
I suspect a lot of people don't know how useless most of these systems are in snow or mud.

That's strange the traction control was what got my wife's VW up the 13% hill to the house this morning - works really well.

Maybe not in Scotland.
In fairness, they told us repeatedly that this storm would come on Tuesday, it didn't, so we were all a bit confused when it arrived on Wednesday:sad:.

I realised our 3 had a problem when I found someone had tried scrabbling some compost out of a pot in the conservatory. They now have a litter tray rather than having to tunnel through a foot of snow.

Part of my panic buying last Friday, when the risk of severe cold shown in the weather models clearly wasn't going away, was a large bag of cat litter. Ours isn't keen on using frozen ground.

I wish the bloke who's taken it on himself to salt/grit all the paths around here would stop it. He might think he's being neighbourly(and he is),but! There are big patches of salt at my front door. My dog keeps stepping on them and ends up with painful salt getting into his paws.

Have you thought of sweeping it away.
