This is a very moot point, open to much discussion & opinion.
When I was knocked off my bike in '18, I hit my head on the blacktop as I went down and was unconcious for at least twenty minutes as a result.
If I'd not been wearing a bash hat, I'd rather not think about the possible outcome.

Concussion. Helmets provide no protection from concussion according the manufacturers.

Unfortunately, I can confirm that.

Although judging by the damage to my helmet by the road surface it did provide some protection against damage to the surface of my head.

I've also had concussion when my unhelmetted head hit a hard floor surface requiring stitches and losing a lot of blood.

I was knocked unconscious on both occasions and ambulanced to A&E.

I never advocate wearing a helmet or criticise the wearing of them.

Carbon fibre... LMAO!!!
Same here. I never was any good at jumps and one in particular ended up with me landing front wheel first. I was about 18 at the time and to this day, I don't remember the ride home despite the beliefs of helmets working.

What a load of poppy cock. All a helmet does is stop a bit of gravel rash on your noggin, and also stop lots of questioned when you are wheeled into A&E with a broken spine, or suspected fractured hip - tried and tested. High vis, lights don't help drivers see you if they aren't looking.

Have you just grabbed that paragraph off google AI ?

I still say, no matter what kind of an accident, it is best to be wearing helmet. If not, lawyers will make you partly to blame.

I've reported this for misinformmation. In the meantime, care to back it up with evidence?
(Or even specify which nation/state you are talking about?)

@rydabent, I believe you live outside the UK?
Your statement about victim blaming if one does not wear a helmet doesn't apply here in the UK.

Maybe in your country.

But while this forum is international, and we do have a few members such as yourself from the USA, the majority of us here are from the UK, and that is much less likely here.
