Barrel adjuster threads worn

The threads on the barrel adjuster on my Veloce 10sp rear mech are gone. Can they be re-tapped? Or is there another way of setting up the mech (i.e. bodge)? I've a barrel adjuster on the down tube so can live with it on the mech.

Please don't tell me it's new mech time!

Are the threads gone on the barrel adjuster part which unscrews (in which case rob one from an old mech in a skip somewhere) or is it the threads on the mech itself?

Threads on the mech itself. Took in into my LBS and they sorted it; re-tapped and replaced the barrel adjuster.... so I've got a hybrid (but working) mech! All for €5,so I'm chuffed
