If you are anything like me, a few more rides and you will not be bothered any more! I usually fret for a couple of days or a couple of rides etc, then it just fades into insignificance!
They won't corrode. Keep the cranks clean with the rest of the bike. As said before, you will get more scratches with time, it's not the end of the world.
Yes, there's a lot to be said for equipment that shows honourable scars and signs of wear and tear from hard work. That's different from willful neglect though, which is inexcusable.
I have a bike bought from PBK in May. Full Sora. The bike was allegedly checked and signed off by Mike - their mechanic. Torque is meant to be 12-14NM.
Hilariously this fell off going up a hill, whilst clipped in.
As you would expect the crankarm and new SPD pedal is scratched to b***ery! Hardly new - under 100 miles of use. BB is damaged.
PBK couldn't give a toss. Ignore messages and make it nigh on impossible to contact them.
Not surprising when they are part of "The Hut" group really.
12 - 14 NM - allegedly signed off - then just falls off!
PBK utterly disgust me and apologies for the rant.
Anyone have a contact no for them cos I certainly can't find it - even after spending £600 with them. Complete scumbags...
I once bought a new bike and it didn't make the first night before it got scratched. The scratch was about 2 inches long on the top tube. I was mad angry for the first day even though it was purely accidental. I quickly shrugged it off and accepted the fact it was going to blend in with all of the battle scars.
Another point is that your battle scar is on the crank arm, which is one of the most likely places to get battle scars.
I get more annoyed when I scratch something that is completely of my own doing and done stupidly. Like taking a shortcut to remove something, etc. If it's out of my control, then usually it has no effect on stress levels. If it's somebody else's mistake and should never have happened then that does tend to annoy me to some degree I must admit.
