Nice thick white bread, good quality dry cured smoled bacon (grilled until slightly crispy) and about half an inch of Hellmann's full fat mayonnaise. Delicious, and the One True Way to eat bacon butties.

Plate has to be really hot for me. Otherwise, butties start to cool too quickly which encourages rushing - totally the wrong thing. Having a hot plate also helps to warm the sauce, which as previously posted, is 'on the side', not on the actual bacon (cold sauce on hot bacon = luke warm bacon).

No, they don't use it. Savages! But you can usually get it in Asian shops - I get it from the Chinese supermarkets. I didn't know this until today, but apparently the French bit on the label (which they haven't done for a good few years now) was only a bit of marketing, to give it an air of sophistication. It was never actually sold there.

OT for a moment: I picked up a bottle of soy sauce in sainsburys the other day and discovered it had a label on it saying "This is a Delia 'cheat' ingredient". Now, I remember the series, I watched one and gave up in disgust, but how is soy sauce a 'cheat' ingredient? It's a basic seasoning, surely?

As you were...

I forgot about tabasco. I was going to put Henderson's relish in as well, but I thought that too few non-Sheffield-vicinity-dwellers would have heard of it. And then there's the bacon - smoked or not, streaky or back, it just goes on and on...
Ah Uncle Mort that takes me back to the gardening course that I did at Leatherhead where a friend from Sheffield used to bring me down a bottle whenever he went home. Wonderful stuff and yes your right it would flavour a bacon buttie perfectly so I second adding it to the poll:smile:.

Meat is murder.

But if I were ever to eat fried slices of old dead mammal corpse between two slices of white bread I expect I'd have it with that new Tabasco smoked chilli sauce.

Can't fault you on your taste in sauces though.
