Get the £1/EUR gloves from Decathlon and buy a size of cycling mitts one size larger than you normally wear. Wear the £1 gloves underneath the mitts.

Another vote for thin - in my case, running gloves - under a pair of old mitts. I wear black ones, but ride with someone who uses Karrimor hi-viz gloves under mitts.

the problem with large gloves is sweating, when you stop and take the gloves off for a minute in the cold you end up putting cold sweaty gloves back on, does 2 pairs help with that?
