Not so about the French. Last time he rode I watched him go through the village in the TTT and then to watch the end we nipped into a bar with the telly on. Lots of French people in there, all cheering him on.

I wish I'd gone across this year, deffo go next year.

Plus the French don't like Lance

I f*kcing give up. No, you're all right. The French positively detest Lance Armstrong. It's the only topic of conversation in the cafés. In fact, there was a was a door-to-door survey just yesterday. The entire nation was asked 'Vous aimez Lance Armstrong?' (non French were excluded, can't be trusted obviously). 100% responded 'Non'.

Believe me, in French cycling circles, there is a greater discussion as to the lack of French success, the lack of a new French star, then there is about Lance Armstrong. There are a great number of cycling fans here that simply love the sport, the history, the great figures of past years. There's a romance about the TdF that transcends any individual. LA is part of that romance.

Sorry Yellow.I didn't mean to upset anyone. I was taken out of context there. I didn't mean the French as a nation hate Lance.I was meaning the Tour Organisers as at the end of the day it would be down to them to invite Yeam Livestrong -IF that ever happens

I think more of Team Astana - thy're all above politicking, and I'm certain that Contador and LA are 'hamming this up' for the glory of the media....

So, I predict, Contador will beat La by about 11 seconds in the last stage, although LA will put up THE MOST WATCHABLE FIGHT and it'll be talked about forever.....

then 2010, and LA will have Contador riding for him......and Hincapie, and Cav....

Now there are two (actually three ) words that I never, ever thought I'd see in the same sentence.

Despite believing LA to be the devil, I'm more of a fan of the cock-up theory than any deliberate attempt to split the team. Doesn't say much for team communication though. The break had me checking my Wizard and Chips TdF Wall Chart to see if it was one of the stages being run without race radio.
