Oh, and who has the climber's physique? And, I'll give you a clue... it's not Bruyneel!

Contador has the best climbers physique from that photo and also from results this year. If he stays in good form then Armstrong will work for him not against him IMO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I reckon the Astana tour bus will be fun

Oh, so do I! So do I!

In all seriousness, this tour is shaping up to be a good'un. The sub-plots are as good as, if not better than, the main event itself! Throw in some early doping positives (how about Boonen for that added wow!) and it'll be the greatest show on earth!

Wasn't it ever thus; for me that's one of the things that I enjoy seeing, personal duels fought out in the context of the race. I'm really looking forward to the start today.

I have to agree - it's not Contador OR Armstrong Or Leipheimer, it's all of them together - and Sastre, and Cav......the plot couldn't have been better if it was written by Shakespeare, and called

"Macbeth, King Lear, Hamlet, and the Taming of the Shrew, In France"

Love it....!:smile::biggrin:

To be honest LA is quite relaxed on the whole thing - chilled, i feel, yet AC is very uptight which is how you should be when your looking to do a performance..ie le TDF.

You can see from the pic. AC is not comfortable & its purely perfunctory compared to the friendship between JB & LA.

If you can check the video - AC looks awkward even.

I'm getting the feeling it may even come down to the greg lemond / bernard hinault situ. in the 80's perhaps - who knows ???????

Though AC looks in fantastic condition. - chris boardman is saying top-ten for lance realistically YES but he's got 7tdf's behind him he knows all the tricks, AND practical advantageous facts, in the book..lets see what happens over 3 wks & their are others in this race too: what a tour this is gonna be !

I'm getting a bit tired of all this Astana stuff. It's Contador. End of discussion. I certainly don't need a chunk of the Tour highlights being taken up by it every bleedin' night....;)

Yes, it might well be, all depends if Astana rip themselves apart and even if not, I shall wait for that one decisive moment in three weeks, when he (or someone else), blows the race apart as he makes his move and that's what all the build up is about, that and that only. That's what used to make Indurain so boring, there was no explosive moment.

Indurain got 5 even though it was boring.

I think that's Crackle's point. It's about more than winning - we want a thrill, a chase, an explosive moment, a bit of aggro. Indurain didn't provide them.
With the penultimate stage topping out at Ventoux the potential for a decisive moment is probable. Imagine 5 GC contenders within a minute of each other and Bertie and Armstrong being closest.

Please don't say things like this - you'll only set us all up for disappointment when Contador enters the stage with a four-minute lead.

This Tour could really be something.

Probably won't, though.

The irritating thing is that I'm going to be in Slovenia on the day of Ventoux - I just hope I can find a TV with the tour on.
