I'm bored. Not wanting to go do dishes so thought I would ask a fun question I have been thinking about. How important are the looks of a bike to you? I really like the Liv/Giant paint job compared to say others like Specialized, Cannondale, and others that is nothing but like one solid color. I know these are all great bikes but the paint jobs did nothing to excite me. I admit, the looks of the Avail sold me.

It's all about the ride for me,
Function over looks.

Saying that, I do like Mango bikes, and they colours.

It doesn't matter the color of the car
But what goes on beneath the bonnet
Is there a flag that flies above your heart
And is my name writ there upon it
Wedding cake and toothache
Equals love and pain

Colour is important and it puts me off buying a bike when I see one I'm interested in, often the bottom model with a colour I do like, but when I look for the disk brake model, they have produced it in some dull grey colour or black (current bike is grey.... I want colour next time!)

Generally spec, fit, and price are more important to me, but given there are always a wide number of similarly spec'd bikes at roughly the same price which one I go for always does come down to looks. Especially colour schemes - I can't stand bright, gaudy paint jobs and would rather have a solid single colour.

Everyone wants to look good cycling ;) I don't think it has ever swayed my bike choice, however female bikes tend to be girly colours my sister was recently mortified when her husband bought her a bike so she could go out with himself and their children, he bought a lovely girly lilac Raleigh with flowers on and a basket ..... needless to say I remind her at every opportunity and remind her I my beloved Boardman is my favourite blue colour

Generally, so long as it isn't too horrible, I don't mind. My Cannondale is black (matt-ish) and my Dawes is silver. Both look fine to me. I'd avoid yellow (too much TdF wannabe) or white (would need cleaning constantly).

I confess to only wearing certain shorts with certain tops to avoid clashing.
