Are any CCrs really going to suffer in this heat ?

Have a warm drink instead.

Your body has to work harder to bring it up to body temperature, meaning you'll sweat more, and be warmer.

I'm on the coffee !

From a cycling point of view temperatures of mid 20s are about my limit. I don't really like the heat. Fortunately I managed to sneak in a night ride on Friday, and got home at noon just as it was getting too hot.

But unlike winter, when I can use the turbo if there's ice or heavy snow on the roads, there's no indoor option.

It's 32 in my garden at the moment. Roll on autumn!

Edit: 35.5 now

It's certainly warm. Went out at 10.15 to do some PAT in Brentor, 5 miles away. Here in Tavistock, pleasant, car reads 23.5 C. Exit car at Brentor and allowing for the aircon, much warmer. Out to car at 11.30, much warmer still, so it's certainly hot. However, I spent some of July '76 in the middle of St Mawgan airfield, guarding the Precision Approach Radar during an exercise. Wearing old-school blue serge...
Played a gig after the exercise, looking like Rudolph...

Just back from an early morning walk, no chance I'm leaving the camp site again now until it cools right down...
We have cold drinks, shade and plenty of food ^_^
Halfway into a decent ride, it's a lovely day, except my right knee has unusually started giving me some gyp so I've had to back off the pace a bit.
Having some lunch in a garden centre restaurant before resuming the trip :okay:

Looking at my thermometer in my south facing, but 50% light blocked out by a big tree kitchen, it says 79 Fahrenheit. I suppose it'll be a degree or two less in my living room. I'm not going out till after 3pm, more for my mutt's sake than for mine. I'll also be taking two (chilled in my very cold fridge) cycling bottles of water for him.

Look at the forecast - it will just be getting to the highest temperatures then and won't start to fall much again until 8-9 pm!

We're only driving to the small park up the road. It's quite breezy up there and I'm also taking a light coloured umbrella, to act as a parasol for him.

Did 50 miles on Saturday - sunblock should have been reapplied - and 12+ yesterday. Too much work on today but it was low 20s earlier on which would have been the ideal time to go out.
If I get a chance, tomorrow morning I will nip out and try to do some high cadence / low heartbeat rate miles on the towpath.
I grew up riding a single speed in Queensland so this dry heat feels like luxury. Doesn't stop me sweating, which is fine because that means I have earned my coldie when I get home :cold:
