Anyone preparing for winter yet?

Yep! Confirmed my accommodation in India yesterday for three months.

I'll be mostly on these beaches (and NO apologies if you've seen me post them before).

The temperature might drop to about 20 degrees at night, but the winter day temperature will be between 30-38.

And no rain.

Met a Dutchman working at a Spanish holiday resort.

He works between April-October. From late October he disappears on a series of cycle camping tours all over Europe and beyond.

Now that is a great way to spend one's winter.

We have all our winter logs for burning. Chimney has been cleaned, we are ready.

1. The boiler was serviced in July.
2. We have a new porch being built in September.
3. The logs I've stored for 12 months will be cut to size and split soon. I shall start doing a few when weather prevents riding and I have nothing else to do.
4. Busy harvesting veg from my allotment, drying, storing, freezing as appropriate. Making and freezing gooseberry crumble, apple crumble.

YES. Can`t wait. I hate the heat, and everything bad that`s ever happened to me always happens mid fecking summer, so yes autumn and winter are very acceptable

In my last house, I waited until beyond that point. My boiler didn't have anti-frost protection and iced up. I woke to the sound of water spraying across my bathroom from a thawed burst pipe...

That's what I was thinking. As for 30-38 degrees - no thanks!

I'd rather take my bike to the Benidorm area for December, January and February (maybe March too). Night temperatures usually no lower than a tolerable 9-10 degrees and daytime temperatures of up to a pleasant 19-20 degrees.

Talk of winter whilst still in summer,tut tut!

For the many CCers who follow my updates about my palm tree family, you'll be glad to hear that i'm bringing the 4 smaller ones inside and leaving the 2 big stronger ones outside (just far too big now to drag inside) to face the colder months.
