No. I actually meant the actual grips that you hold that are attached to the handlebars.....if they aren't adjusted properly it can cause pins and needles and numbness.

Make sure these are adjusted...forward or back***....just a few mm's can make the difference!
As for the the handlebar height...that would more likely give him neck or shoulder pain.

It is a road bike........with drop bars.
I checked the tape and there is plenty of it -in good condition.
***I have suggested he shortens the front stem (if thats what its called) to shorten the "reach"

Are his elbows slightly bent when he is riding? How's his core strength and posture on the bike?

a) not sure about his elbows...........I will look at that when I see him (and his bike) next.
b) core strength is amazing as he is seriously into yoga & gym work.
c) posture is wrong (to me) as the bars are too low for the saddle.............the saddle is correct.

Flip the stem? What bike it is, maybe it's an aggressive geometry if there's a big saddle to bars drop? Perhaps he bought the wrong bike...?
