No. Liquid, almost like water to look at.

This?

They are liquid solvents and if applied sparingly, they'll leave little trace behind when they evaporate. Your plastic joints set faster and there's nowt to clean up.

I recopmmend that you use a fine pointed paint brush and ignore the brushes that tend to come with the bottles. A paintbrush is more precise and will not flood the joint as readily as the brush provided with the solvent does.

Cheers, I ordered some fine brushes earlier this week so will make sure I use them. My models will still look like sticks...

For diy liquid.cement i seem to recall you can use neat acetone or(better) acetone thickened with a bit of offcut polystyrene (ie sprue, not ceiling tiles). Or polyclense brush cleaner as the solvent part.

This will only end in tears. If you are going to use a pure solvent use butanone, also known as methyl ethyl ketone, acetone is fine for gluing perspex and dissolving expanded polystyrene. It's not so great as a solvent/glue for polystyrene kits. Polyclense is too aggressive to use as an adhesive and leaves the plastic around the joint softened for quite a while.

Younger Marmionette spotted one of the boxed starter kits today and said "that's cool". I asked if she would like to build it up, and she replied "really? yeh, that would be great."

So it looks like I'll have someone else that will be sticking their fingers together...

She also reckons that the ships and submarines look "epic"
