Oh, I woke up earlier to an awful taste in my mouth. One of my teeth was a bit sore and now I taste what I recognise as poison, like an Abcess.

Doubt I'll get an appointment tonight though, so just keep draining it with salty water...

You have my deepest sympathy as abscesses are horrible. At least you're not also in screaming agony as I was one Christmas eve some 35 years ago. It got to the point where at 4am I'd got my dad's pliers in my hand wondering "should I or shouldn't I?". I willed myself not to and brassed it out for a couple of days till I could see the dentist. Even the non-agony ones are revolting and make you feel bad

I had an infection before and went to the hospital.

Because it was Dental and not vital, I was left all night and only seen in the morning.
Pointless.

Don't go to the hospital. Phone NHS24 (111) and they'll put you through to the emergency dental service.

I think I'm in roughly the same part of the world as you (I'm in Ayrshire). I phoned Christmas Day at about 7pm. Took about 10 mins to get to the front of the call queue. Chose "dental" from the voicemail menu then spoke to someone (call handler) who took all my details, and said someone would call me back within 3 hours.

Call back half an hour later from dental nurse, who "triaged" me - decided I was high priority case (pain, causing difficulty sleeping). Said they'd make a priority appointment, but it was likely to be the following morning (this was about 8pm on Christmas Day). In the meantime, gave advice on pain control (both paracetamol and brufen, as per the instructions on the packets) , and dental hygiene.

Call handler called back 20 mins later with a choice of appointments - first one was 10am the following morning at a specialist dental clinic in a hospital about 5 miles from where I live.

At 10.10 on Boxing Day, the tooth was in a jar.... and I was £28.84 lighter. Total time less than 15 hours. Well worth the money.

Well, this sounds daft, but I am going to go out to my local all you can eat Indian Buffet. The guy knows me VERY and will make me something harmless to at least line my stomach (I have eaten nothing in 3 days).
Also, with the Stoma (that he knows about), I am now very dehydrated, so I need something decent inside me too.
It may also stop the headaches a bit.

The irony is that lager never fails to hydrate me, but I'll go the soft drinks, etc.

At thislevel of dehydration, water is actually quite dangerous if drunk too quickly.

There is nothing to it and can easily just wash my system out if I am also 'empty', like I am.


This will either be a great or a terrible idea, I'll report later!

Oh and the smell was back again earlier. I reckon there's about some bad ju ju that's about to happen in my mouth. 😆☺️


I've gotta buy some more painkillers anyway, so I need to go out.
