I left in 1980. Used to live here.

Mountain bikes didn't exist back then but we used to mess around up the Werfa, and on the old railway track. I'd imagine there's some decent mountainbiking up on the mountain and even on the tip. Walked through the tunnel to the far end a few times - wonder what that would be like by bike?

Used to walk up the "black pipe" as well - ooooh, I'm coming over all funny now!

Could you tell me some more details about this .. and how many bikes can it take in any one journey, and is it very well used, do you have to book a place... oh so many questions.

All questions I cant answer at the moment sorry. All I know is it runs from May through the summer and the trailer is custom made for carrying bikes.
If I find out any details Ill put a post up on here.

I am thinkinng of getting the train up to Merthyr and see how I get on doing the bottom half of the trail first.I think Merthyr to Cardiff is about 27 miles which is further than I have cycled so far .Its definitely getting easier though so Im hoping in a month or two I will be ready for it.

I live very near to where you used to live.

There are some amazing MTB routes now but sadly they are all too often used by Off Road Motorbikes

The Tunnel is shut and has been for many years which is a real shame.

I am embarrassed to say I am not sure where/what the Black Pipe is.
