Any carpet fitters on here?

A word of warning. The first and last time I used knee kickers (to re-fit a carpet I'd had to lift for access beneath the floorboards), I could hardly walk for days afterwards.

One reason you won't find a carpet fitter over the age of 45.

There's a lovely story, I think from someone on here, discovering it was much easier to cut the carpet from the underneath side. Carefully cut it out to fit the alcoves and door way to create a perfect fit....... at least if he'd lived for the mirror image room in the house next door !

Been there, done that, luckily it was only a small bathroom carpet and not a big room. Still resulted in a trip back to the shop with my tail between my legs for another bit of carpet though.
If its to big or expensive to ruin then best bet is to make the risk of mistakes someone elses problem and get the pro's in.

An all-weekend job avoided for the price of a curry for two. And it'd be done in a couple of hours rather than taking all weekend too.

In fact that's how the pros do it with solid or vinyl flooring for kitchens and bathrooms, they make s template first, obviously cutting from the top. The old Lino you used to see in your parents house is now cool again as it's a 'green' product. Can look very good. Each piece is unique.

I fitted Lino in the new shed (5mtrs x 4mtrs in places) and it was bloody hard going. Only saving grace is the skirting I'm putting on top of it will hide my mistakes

If it was in the winter it will be. In the warmer weather it becomes more pliable and easier to work.
