Any bush mechanics out there? I need to expand the end of a pin.

Buy it loads longer than you need and bend the ends.
Yes, I spotted that. It can stick out two inches at either end and still be in nobody's way.......but it isn't elegant....

Purple text WTF
Yes, it's amazing, eh? I mean, purple text - what shall we do about it, how will we cope? Everybody is bored of discussing it - get over it, try and concentrate on what the text actually says, rather than what font, or colour its in.

Here's what happened. I ground the end of the stainless rod square on the bench grinder, and put it in the engineering vice before delivering a mighty blow with a centre punch/lump hammer. The pin remained fairly unconcerned but the punch came off quite badly, blunt and gouged. I suspect it was made of cheese.
After a few more attempts, I just squeezed the last 2-3 mm of the rod really hard in the vice to increase its width to about 3mm,

put it in place, and squeezed the other end. Not pretty, but it'll work.
Thanks all.

it is tiresome on the eyes. You've gor sensible enough things to say so why make it hard for the poor reader

Probably not cheese, something softer like low carbon steel? Neat enough job you have done there though

The ends of the pin are a bit sharp but I reckon they still won't dig in deep enough to hit an artery or vein in my leg if something untoward happens.:okay:
