I saw the Lidle spoke reflectors & thought they'd be handy on my boys bikes, but our local store had sold out by the time I went in, then that night saw a Halfords add on the TV, 3 for 2 offer on all bike accessories.. Had a look on their website & yes, they sell the reflectors - Double the Lidle price but as I wanted to buy a Bike Eye, under the offer i'd be getting I pack free so no loss..
Bike Eye Spokeys
So went in last week, at the checkout queue #2 son started to get twitchy & started making his odd sounds, a sure sign of a posible 'meltdown'
I was mentaly willing the sales assitant to get a move on, why are they so damn slow..??
Finaly we got to the till, by which time he was very agitated, she scanned my stuff & told me the price, I querried it & was informed that my purchases didn't come under the 3 for 2 offer, by now #2 was a squirming wriggley octoupus in my arms, I just wanted to get the heck out the shop, so paid & left.
Today I get a Email from Halfords, general junk/spam stuff that i normaly bin, but I looked at it & noticed the 3 for 2 offer an ALL bike accesories banner, so I chceked & both the items I bought are clearly listed in red letters as included in the offer.
I was a bit annoyed, ok it's only £7.99, but it's the principle & if they did that to everyone that went in it could work out at £1000's.
I was alreday going to B&Q thsi afto, which is next door to Halfords..so went in with my receipt.
The girl on the till by the door told me to go upstairs to the bike section, the boy working on a bike didn't have a clue, so called for a supervisor - Who informed me that my purchase was NOT part of the offer..only lights, locks & luggage was included - I pointed out the word 'all' on the yellow signs hanging all round the bikes, and that it said 'including' lights, locks & lugagge!
She still insisted that my bits wern't included, I pointed out that on their website, both items were labelled as in the offer...she thought for a few seconds then told me they were an online offer only, By now i was getting annoyed, I asked her to go on their pc - right in front of her - and look at the website & tell me where it said online offer only. She did, and said Yes they are only part of an online offer, you can order online for home delivery or instore collection, but not just walk into the store to buy them.. I asked her to show me where on the listing it actualy said that... She couldn't, but was not going to back down over it...By this point neither was I!

She again said that my items wern't included but again when ased to show me were it said that she couldn't, I asked her to get her boss, she told me he was at lunch, I told her I would wait & sat down on a bike box in front of the till..Much to amusemnet of the half dozen customers that had now formed a queue behind me! This was aslo the point were #3 came flying round the corner on a bike shouting Yeeehaaaa while # 2 ran after him making quacking sounds!
I looked at the supervisor, smiled & said "I really hope your manager won't be long", she decied that she could as a 'good will gesture' refund me the price of the reflectors!

I got a small ripple of applause as i handed my card over for the refund!
Now what shall I spend my lovely £8's on then...??

I'm curious to know what #1 was up to.

Not a clue, he went out at Midnight last night & not been home since - Oh the joys of Teenagers LOL!

And thnak you both.. i did think i might have been a bit over the top for the sake of a few quid, but to me it was a matter of principle, don't advertise something & then try to twist things to cover your arse LOL!

Barnet,
I have a new halfords near to me. I popped in to get a pump for a friend. I knew what I wanted and still had an argument over the price that was quoted on the price tag. never again. I buy 99.9% of my stuff from my LBS, and he gives me a discount which may or may not come down to Halfords prices, but he will now get 100% of my custom.

Hmm guess I was lucky getting my helmet, pump and lights on three for two then?

Fair do's  you don't fancy getting him involved with my complaint should it not go my way do you? Add in my clumsy 4 year old daughter who has a tendency to knock the display items all over the place and we could be onto a winner

Good for you  :bravo: I wish more people would stand up for their rights.

As an aside I popped into my Halfords today to get a gear cable (they sell Clarks and so are cheep). I saw a trained monkey engineer working on a small pink bike fitting new brake blokes. I could here the wheel catching on the rims and "knew" what was going to happen next.
"Just wait for them to bed in Sir" was the monkeys engineers advice.

I really wanted to see the chap who was the owner of the bike (or maybe it belonged to his daughter) but I lost sight of him and wanted to pay and get out before I heard any more crap words of sage advice.

@abo.... You can borrow them both, You'll get your case sorted in seconds
And the Bike Eye is very good, When out on the roads with #2 in front, I tend to ride quite wide, so that way car drivers can see him in front of me, have to give us a wide berth & then don't swing back as soon as they pass me - Using the eye i've been able to spot cars coming up behind me long before I could hear them.
I might even get one for my other bike...But it won't be from Halfrauds!

@Angel.... I am not embarrsed to cause a scene, if i know i'm in the right LOL!

Thnaks Chewy
