Campagnolo Velox derailleur makes a preliminary date of this frame to 1971, if that component was not a replacement. There is a serial # hidden under paint on the BB shell. Center-pull brakes seem to confirm this by examples I have seen. Weinmann Vanquer, getting ready for a good polish. As is everything else. I should build a good workbench first.

Crankset is removed, cotters intact, threads need chasing, but they did before as well. I shall run a die over them. Long quarter inch punch, is a service in this job. And a tool steel hammer, so you strike like you mean it.

That's the way, don't 'dolly tap' em.

You probably know but it's worth repeating................you install them with a hammer too, the nut is just to stop em working loose in service.

Living where I do, I have had to learn most of what I know about cotters from here and Bike Forums, because the attitude, even around the bike co-op and the bike sellers is not to mess with cotters. That is why I got this bike in the first place. BB cleaned and refitted, loose bearings, always a challenge. Will let things settle a couple of days and refit cranks at the week-end. If taxes don't take all of our time.

About ready to start putting things back together, if I can get away from the assorted sawbones I have to see this morning. Worked with most of these components before on the Corso, so should be few comforts or surprises. Only bits of a serial # on the BB.

Chainrings and fork have now returned to the bike, crank arms looking pretty, bright and shiny.

We need pictures :hyper:

I may be taking that center pull brake tang and adjuster off there, it obviously doesn't belong, as the little guidance lug is on the wrong side for this fork. I am thinking it is a Model 92, and the Weinmann 999 center pulls are correct, but I may have to find the proper center pull tang. Eventually.

Companion for the Falcon, a 1980 Worksop Raleigh Super Grand Prix, although I thought Worksop closed by 1980, this may have been 1979 production serialized for 1980. No need for restoration, even the tires are good on this one.

Needs larger pedals, though. maybe extenders. And I need to lower the seat post about an inch.
