I've decided to give them another go. I needed some brake pads and I found the same ones on AE as I did elsewhere with identical packaging for 50% of the cost. Delivery is next week so lets see what happens 🤞

Out of curiosity and also to make up an order for free p&p I ordered some 'ceramic' Shimano compatible pads. Don't know if they're ceramic or not but they stop me just as well as the real deal but at about a quarter of the price and as a bonus aren't as noisy as the originals. Lasted about 3000 miles as well which isn't too shabby, so I'll probably be getting more at some point.

Thanks for the feedback. What swung me was on Amazon and Ebay, the packaging was the same but with postage it was more than double the cost. I found one Cycle retailer with what I wanted but packaging not pictured so not sure.

Current pads are the original, done around 2200 miles but it is an eBike and used to carry heavy loads so they do work harder.

I asked AI to show the 'real' me.
Just taken my bike down to a local LBS to have new carbon bar and alloy stem fitted to carbon forks. As I don't have a torque wrench and haven't used on in years, I thought it best to leave it to professionals. The first LBS didn't want to touch carbon parts but the second LBS is one of a small local chain so am more confident in their abilities.

Now the punchline. When I gave them to the parts to fit, the first question was "Are these from Ali Express". They weren't but asked why. Seems the LBS was concerned enough about the quality of AE carbon that they checked with their insurers about public liability should the fitting go wrong. So they are rejecting anything that comes from AE.

Has anyone else come across this?

I have been using ali express bars fot the last 5 years, never had a problem, there are thousands of people using them, Some might break , but the UK bought one's break aswell. most breakages happen if over tightened.

Don't disagree but was wondering if anyone had a LBS reject fitting AliExpress parts.

I buy stuff off Ali Express fairly regularly Bought some jockey wheels and a winter jacket a couple of weeks ago and they are both really good and fantastic value. Would have paid 2 to 3 times the price buying the same kit from a UK reseller. If you want fake stuff DHGate is the platform. I don't see the point though. Raced a Dengfu frame in crits, road, hill climbs and time trials and it is still going strong 10 years in and 75000 km on it.

Well, I've just thrown caution to the wind and ordered ten stainless pedal washers for the princely sum of a quid, delivered.

They look good in the pic, have good reviews and probably come from the same source as the cheapest on ebay - which would have cost me about ten times that assuming postage was combined..

I bought a supposedly winter jacket, when it arrived it was more of a summer jacket, but for £12.00 it's good value for money. will be wearing it if we get a summer.

I bought two. One was about £10 and was definitely spring autumn max, the other was an InBike one for circa £18 and is fine for cold days with a base. InBike seems to sell good quality but not silly cheap.

My problem with clothing that cheap is the concern over origin and supply chain, you can’t guarantee that it’s free from child labour/exploitation and how the fabric is produced, lots of cheap producers in the far east pump dye into rivers.

Expensive clothes are also likely to use exploitation but you are paying extra for the branding on top.
