anyone know if the winter cycling trousers/jackets are any good in heavy rain. went out for a ride in a shower today with it and i kept dry but its described as water repellent so will it start letting heavy rain in.

just wondering if i need to get a n extra layer for the horrible welsh weather :d
The winter tousers are great for showers, but will give in after about 30 minutes, or if it's really chucking it down.

I got some winter trousers - been using my old pair for about 3 years and they're getting worse for wear; the last medium and large trisuits for son and neighbour (both delighted); more LED bands - I just chuck them out when the batteries fade or the lights start failing, at £1 each the best money I've ever spent on safety type stuff; and a high-viz shirt (small women's 8-10 for me).

The trousers are up in quality from my last pair, though the waist is cut rather low and I shall continue to wear another pair of shorts under them for extra padding and cover; worn the shirt for 2 commutes over a Howies merino base layer in temps of 7-13 and it did great.

I think Aldi's stuff is great for Autumn-early-winter and late-winter-early-spring. When the weather's really foul I break out the posh stuff. I wear their socks all the time.

Had a message from a friend about the cycling specials so popped in. Got leg and arm warmers (wasn't sure which would fit my thighs so bought both sizes on the understanding I could return/exchange as necessary). Went back yesterday and they still had stock (thank goodness) and very readily exchanged them. Chuffed with my purchases (base layers, arm and leg warmers, led ankle thingies) only disappointment yesterday was that it wasnt quite cold enough to try them out

By the time I got to the store some things were gone - couldn't see any of the light bands and only a few trousers left. I've bought the light - just as a back up set. Both front and light look to have one set of flashing that would be annoying, and some spoke reflectors, and a couple of pairs of gloves. I didn't see waterproof trousers. There still seems to be jackets left and other bits but yes definitely visited by locusts.
