Buy cheap buy twice in my experience. I wouldn't be seen dead buying cheap Aldi cycling gear. Certainly wouldn't fight over it! Do they stock Sidi shoes, Assos or Rapha?
Not always - the whole point of establishing a brand is that customers will then pay more than the intrinsic value of the item. I favour Lidl rather than Aldi, because it is closer, and a pair of their £19.99 cycling shoes has been every bit as good as my last pair of £100+ Diadoras. But most of their cycling kit - while still excellent value - is too basic for what I want, so I don't buy it, just as I wouldn't buy a supermarket tent or sleeping bag.

Ach, I'm going tomorrow, maybe.
There's always plenty left reduced in a few weeks, not many cyclists in my area.

You might be onto something there.

Not much men's clothing left at my local branch this morning, but loads of stuff for women.

Been today, got what I was after, a set of panniers, plenty left.
Plenty jerseys, light jackets (mainly white though), tool kits, shorts.
Coveting one of the pretty front baskets :girl: I'll wait until they go down in price.

I find the sizing strange in Aldi. One year I will get medium the next large etc. I bought 2 pairs of socks this time and the gilet, the fit of the gilet was terrible for me so I took it back. The jersey's are usually good for the money but I couldn't be bothered with all the people around them and I already have more than enough anyway.

I haven't come across any scrum in Aldi. Those looking at the cycling kit are genuine cyclists, and all really polite. We rummaged to find the smallest shoes for my lad, but being lace up they fit, as he is 6.5 in normal shoes.

I picked up some commuter shorts, one of the cheaper jerseys, a rain jacket that folds up its own backside (which fills me with childlike awe), gloves and a pair of yellow filter glasses.

The gloves are terrific. Did 45 miles in those this afternoon with none of the circulation issues I get from the Decathlon gloves at twice the price. The shorts are fine though I'm not convinced by the inner shorts, I took them out and used existing kit. The jersey's a jersey. I felt a bit stuffy in it but it was my hottest cycling day of the year so put it down to humidity. The glasses look and feel cheap but did their job and I'm unconcerned by elitists' mockery.

My nearest Aldi is Edgbaston, which is right next to the heaviest-used cycle route in Birmingham so I went to Bearwood instead. It was still a bit of a scrum but nobody got funny. Possibly due to the three cops who were also shopping for a bargain.

Couldn't manage to get in until lunchtime today - Bradley Stoke - and I have missed out on the £7 cycling tops in size medium - there were a good few chaps looking over the racks even now.

I got my son a new helmet and I also spotted some of the £20 "pro" cycling trousers from earlier in the year on special offer so grabbed myself a pair for when it turns a bit chillier.

I've just been and stocked up on cheap lights for the winter.
Did anyone feel the weight of the folding bike lock? I could barely pick it up!
