Picking up a set of rollers in the morning and never having been on rollers before and seeing some Roller fails on YouTube I can't deny the fact I'm a bit apprehensive, any advice or tips greatfully received

Wondering where I can find some crash mats, I don't have room for one mattress never mind 2 however I will be on the rubber interlocking floor mats so they might help........... Is it set in stone that I will fall off then? ^_^

I picked my set up last week. First time I had been on them since my teenage years. I went for rollers as I got so uncomfortable on a loaned turbo, i think because the bike didn't move.

I started in the hallway which is quite narrow so difficult to fall right over. First attempt was "interesting" to say the least, but I was surprised how quickly I got used to them. My advice? Relax. Your bike moves at the slightest twitch but get into a steady rhythm and you can feel quite comfortable quite quickly. I wouldn't like to be starting (or stopping) without something solid to hold on to though.

Best of luck - Steve

ps. I haven't fell off................................. Yet!!

video camera ........for you tube
Absolutely not..............it took me months to get brave enough to venture into the living room in my Lycra when my teenage daughters were in, if they saw my epic roller fail on you tube I'd never live it down

Cheers Steve will bear that in mind, I'm thinking of using my hybrid to start with as it has flat pedals, I'm not brave enough the go clip less on the rollers just yet.

I have a brand new set of rollers as pictured,tacx... COST £150 but tried using them only twice.I knew they wasn't for me and gave up.
I know I know you shouldn't give up but I realy can't be doing with them.
Anyway if anyone wants them cheapish with box..let me know..i'm looking at 70 to 80 plus postage.

My advice, get on them and start riding. Ignore all the bullshit about it being hard. It is easy....... like riding a bike. If you can't ride rollers, you simply have cack bike handling skills!

I was sat riding no handed after about 30 minutes on a set of those blue Tacx things and my bike handling skills are not particularly great!

My lad wants me to get my rollers out of the garage roof ! I only found them earlier this year. Wondered where they had got to - only been up there since we moved in 18 years ago !

Just have somewhere near which you can hold onto whilst you clip in and start.

Cheers for all the advice, I had a few attempts but after 3 or 4 minutes I was away, rode them for a few minutes with no issues so I think I will enjoy them, dies anyone manage to watch tv whilst on rollers or is it best to give 100% concentration on staying upright! I don't mean immediately just once I'm used to them.

Watching tv should be no problem.
