I have a Boardman Hybrid 2014 model it has not seen the light of day for 12 months or so, its a great bike but more of a road bike, my commute is 30 miles a day and 18 miles is Tow Path, Bow Bridge to Pickets Lock.
The bike I have been using is a specialized sirrus, it has had a bit of hammer I am sure my Boardman would be dead by now if I had used it, anyway I have decided to upgrade the Boardman for the commute, the first thing is the saddle, an old sella italia touring which I have used on other bikes in the past, but apart from an upgrade to hydraulic disc brakes I want to widen the rims for a fatter tyre, any suggestions on makes and sizes that will take the original parts, cogs, etc, obviously not tyres, and hopefully not bust the bank.
thanks in anticipation.

You could look a cyclocross wheels but you'll have to know what clearance you have for wider rims/fatter tyres. This review suggests you can just change the tyres for a more robust cyclocross style bike. Btw the sirrus is a flat bar road bike and if your boarman looks anything like the review it looks more robust than a sirrus:okay:

thanks for the reply, I think the Boardman is more of a road bike rather than the sirrus, the sirrus is a great bike too, but the rims are a mess, sick of changing the v brake blocks, I am looking at building the best commuter/ will look at just fitting a wider tyre, its them cobble set crossings over the locks that throw them little skinny wheels, I would love a cycle cross but I haven't any more room.
