Afew years back there was a Melbourne Magistrate called Darcy Dugan and at the same time a well known crim in Sydney with the same name!

I would’ve thought Sydney was a fairly common name, then?

Sydney is another gender neutral name isn't it? But I can't bring any famous female Sydneys to mind. Cyd Charisse I suppose, but I don't know what (if anything) Cyd is short for.

My dad still recounts the story of my telling him I was going to Sydney for a week. "Who's sydney then?". Subsequently went foe a year. We put in a new passenger information system including all the info screens, doubtless replaced a couple of times since then

I have been using Memory Map OS maps for over 20 years. I only just discovered forwards and back buttons right next to the map scale buttons, which I click pretty much every time that I use the software! I have spent 20+ years repeatedly panning maps about, changing scale, and zooming in and out, when I could have often done that over and over just by clicking forwards and back to select between the different choices... :banghead:

My electricity meter only has 6 digits. Once it reaches 999999 it goes back to zero.

Kinetic watches need their batteries changing, which either costs more than the watch is worth if you send it back to the manufacturer or a right PITA if you do it yourself

The Halifax branches in Todmorden and Hebden Bridge have been closed down, which isn't exactly handy for me, but I just found out that I can access my account via the local Post Office if I need to.

That shouldn't be necessary most of the time though because I finally got round to installing the Halifax banking app on my phone.

I don't use cheques much these days, but I just received one for £30 in the post ***. I needed to pay that into my account so I thought I would have to do it at the P.O. but then found out that the Halifax app is set up to process cheques after taking photos of them. Super convenient!

*** My traditional thanks go to @DCLane, who got me back into entering competitions a few years ago by telling me about some of his big prize wins. I was just thinking that I had not won anything for a year or so and then postie dropped off a prize notification letter including the cheque.
