Thanks. I couldn't get anywhere using it...... however I'm grateful to you for reminding me to pursue this feature. IMy phone is a Doro 6080, so I found the online manual, and by searching.. Messages... Settings... MMS... MMS account I was able to set the MMS account to 1p mobile (my provider). I hadn't seen this setting previously, and was trying to enter manually the user name, password, access point etc, which got me nowhere. When my Wife returns home I'll ask her to send a message with photo to see if it works. Thanks again! Happy New Year.

Unfortunately no luck. It seems I'm unable to 'match' the info I have from 1P mobile to the requirements of the Doro- things like user name are a mystery

While reading about alternative ways of describing area( Olympic sized swimming pools, football fields, Wales etc) I learned that a Hectare = 100 " Ares ". As to why the penny never dropped as Hecta is a common prefix I just don't know.
Still, being the equivalent to 10,000 square metres I now have an alternative Forum name 🤔

Why does a kettle make a noise as it comes to the boil? I found this out recently. Boiling is when bubbles of water vapour form inside the liquid - so it's evaporating internally as well as from the surface. The noise before it comes to boil is that of tiny water vapour bubbles forming, but then collapsing again. The collapse is what makes the noise.

(Edit: So why doesn't a saucepan of water make that noise as it comes to the boil? Maybe it does. I'll have a listen next time.)

If you put a lid on it, then it will. It happens much less when there is nothing holding any pressure above the liquid. Neither the kettle nor a saucepan lid add much pressure, but just enough to increase that effect.

Some prison officers are paid the minimum wage. They'd be better off working in supermarkets. The money is the same and it's a much nicer and safer environment.

I've always wondered what sort of health package workers in those jobs get.

I might accept the increased chance of physical injury if I know I'll be looked after (both treatment, and decent pension if I'm unable to work). Same question for police and armed forces people.

The prison service was one place I could have worked as an occupational therapist; I'd have been a 'Beamter' which translates as a 'civil servant' but here it means a higher than average salary, extra protection from being fired, very good healthcare and a generous pension. This also applies to police, teachers, fire fighters, and even tax officials.

The flip side is that it's hard to leave; a friend who worked in the Judicial service had to deal with a few bureaucratic issues before she could retrain and work in social care.

You also have to be a German citizen and under 35 when you start, and I only ever manged one of those at once.
