My sister lives opposite a church, one that has a big wall going around it, each lunchtime she would see the migrant workers (heart of Lincolnshire) sitting on the wall all with their phones & a couple with laptops, she was passing one day & asked one of them why they all sat there each day, the reply was because of the free WiFi. Guess whose wasn't password protected

This is going back a few years but a friend had someone visiting who said she needed to do a couple of emails, and duly fired up her laptop. The host casually comment "oh, have you got one of those new mobile data cards". "No, it works off a wireless network". "but I havn't got wifi here". "Neither have I. It just works from the PC". It turned out the PC owner hadn't realised you actually needed a wireless network as had worked at her own home perfectly well, presumably innocently using a neighbour's network

Beggars have their own spots outside supermarkets (etc) which they vigorously defend.

this i have seen, a woman used to be a regular outside a station in west london i worked at, she would cry for a couple of hours, we used to see her being dropped there, with another guy who used to sit nearby at a cash point, one day a different person was tbf looked genuinely homeless and was there all night, she turned up and started screaming at the guy, got the fella she was dropped with and both stood there shouting at him how he's 'ruining their spot' and 'stealing from them' he had no clue but moved along down the road and sat again, she sat down and then clocked how we had seen it all, next day a different girl was in the spot.

Have been in a coffee shop at 4am after a shift finished and saw a regular group have all of their street workers report in then head off to their local spots, never knew it was a business and so hard to tell who's genuine. my only thing i do now is a couple who i see sleeping outside a station i currently work at(there every night for 10 hours plus) is buy them a couple of coffees /hot chocolates. i bought a guy last week a coffee and he said 'f*** off, i want money'

Unfortunately in this case youu often find the people on the streets are trafficked. In some cases they can be in trouble if they don't bring enough money in during a day.

My Wife's car (delivered new) doesn't have a filler cap, (it hasn't been lost!). I thought it would cause problems at MOT, but it hasn't
I should have attached the earlier quotes regarding which side the filler cap is on the car.... oops!

I assume it's a Ford? My aunt's car is the same. I think it's called 'Ford's Fast Fuelling System'.

Indeed..... It works well (surprisingly), I'm surprised it doesn't leak. I suspect Ford have a patent on it. They had a long-running patent on the electric heated front screen many years ago.
I tried to add the phaeton's note above as a quote and didn't succeed - where did I fail?

You could say that about many national museums here and abroad. France, Italy, germany.

I've often come across this idea in the UK that all other countries are "just the same" in these cases.

There are artefacets from other countries in several museums in Europe, but I'm not sure of any examples of such great significance to the originating country being taken and retained by other countries.

Oooh are you sure about that? I was at the Louvre a few months ago, quite apart from the Egyptian wing there were these from the Persian collection.
